Lucretia’s Kitchen

One might say Lucretia Thompson was destined for barbecue. Granddaughter of the founder of the longtime Louisville restaurant, Thompson’s BBQ, the roots run deep and the history is rich for this third generation barbecue business. With her mother and niece by her side, Lucretia is proud of her product’s authenticity and doesn’t take shortcuts in the kitchen.

Lucretia’s Kitchen caters all types of events and offers much more than barbecue, including honey ham, brisket, ribs, smoked turkey, and desserts. The opportunity to sell Thompson’s “liquid gold” BBQ sauce alongside pre-packed ribs and meals are just a few of this entrepreneur’s short-term goals. Ultimately, Lucretia hopes to open a brick and mortar restaurant and eventually expand beyond the greater Louisville area. A purpose is something Lucretia seems to be filled with and explains, “Whatever time I have left on this earth, I want to do what makes me happy and that’s cooking and making people smile.”
