Entreé-preneurship Introduction Program
Free program for residents interested in the food service industry

The interactive 8-week class series, originally called the Food Entrepreneurship Series will be taught by local industry-leading professionals. All classes will meet at Chef Space, 1812 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.   You must attend all classes to graduate from the program. Email Tom Murro at to be added to the waitlist for our next class. 

Ready To Launch

You have your concept, sketched it out, and are ready to go.  Before booking kitchen space, make sure you have all the right paperwork to get going.

1.    Register Business and Obtain EIN (Employee Identification Number) - Create a business entity and register with the Kentucky Secretary of State using the online OneStop Business Portal.   Then obtain an EIN.

2.    Obtain Food Safety Manager Certification - Certification is required for the owner of the business.

3.    Obtain Commercial General Liability Insurance - Secure your policy and be sure to name Chef Space as the additional insured (minimum $1 million policy)


4.  Secure Food Permit - Louisville Metro Council recently amended the Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances, Chapter 118, Food Service Establishments, to adopt the implementation of a Local Food Permit for food service establishments. A copy of the ordinance can be found here. Please call us if you have additional questions.

Through its blend of nuts-and-bolts business training, food-industry specific technical assistance, and its 13,000 s.f. facility featuring shared, commercial fully-licensed kitchen space, Chef Space maximizes the success of its budding entrepreneurs.


Chef Space offers both HOURLY and MONTHLY kitchen space reservation opportunities.
